Preparing for your upgrade
Product updates
Preparation steps
We’ve built PI2 from the ground up with new technology. This decision was difficult to make, but will allow us to create better features for you in the future.
Because this is an entirely new platform, some features you’ve come to expect may have been updated or relocated. To hit the ground running, we highly recommend taking time to prepare ahead of your account upgrade date.
Here are a few important things you can do to make your upgrade as smooth as possible:
Biggest changes in PI2

How to prepare
PI2 is designed to be simpler to navigate and easier to use. That said, if you’re particularly used to the legacy PI platform, it may take some time to acclimate to the new experience.
Here are five ways to set your org up for success in PI2:
- Clean up existing data: All of your people records will be transferred from Legacy to PI2 as part of the upgrade process. That said, the way these records are organized in PI2 is fundamentally different than it was before. You will be able to reorganize this data in PI2; however, you can save time by following these data cleanup best practices.
- Review user roles: We’ve redesigned user roles in PI2 to give you greater control in how you use them. To ensure a smooth upgrade experience, we’ve given users default permissions based on their Legacy PI user roles. You can modify these permissions in PI2; however, we recommend reviewing these user roles now in Legacy, so you can save a step later.
- Learn how folders work in PI2: If you organization used folders in Legacy PI, those folders will be imported into your new experience. That said, how folders function has dramatically changed in PI2. Read up on these changes so you can take advantage of them.
- Note any active assessment links: Any existing assessment links marked as “candidate” type will be imported into PI2. However, these imported links cannot be modified. We recommend you take note of where you’ve embedded assessment links (recruiting emails, email templates, etc.) so you can update them with new PI2 links after you’re upgraded. (Please note: Links marked as “employee” or “other” will not be imported into the new experience, and will no longer function.)
- Sign up for a PI support webinar: If you have questions you’d prefer to ask live, register for an upcoming Upgrade Support Webinar. Our Client Success team will be available to ensure you feel confident ahead of your upgrade date.
Other ways to prepare
Be on the lookout for the following support resources in the lead up to your upgrade date:
Webinars
We’ll be hosting an Upgrade Support Webinar weekly, allowing you and your colleagues to ask questions and learn best practices live and directly from PI’s Client Success team. Of course, your PI consultant is always available to help guide you through the transition as well.
Emails from The Predictive Index
We’re working to reduce the number of emails you receive from PI, but keep an eye out for our monthly feature release emails. We compile all the most pertinent updates for you in one place, every month.
Product support
If you encounter any bugs or technical issues within the software, please reach out to our support team for assistance via this form.
You can also stay up to date on new features and software updates by checking out our release notes page.
FAQs
To ensure you’re set up for success when upgrading to PI2, we highly recommend you complete the four steps outlined above. While not required, checking these items off before you upgrade will ensure a smoother onboarding process post-upgrade.
Additionally, if your organization is subscribed to Inspire in PI2, you may be prompted to complete the PI Behavioral Assessment “BA” (if you haven’t already taken it) when logging in for the first time. Whereas other PI products use but don’t require BA data, Inspire is built from the ground up to leverage behavioral insights, which is why we ask all users to complete it. Learn more about the Behavioral Assessment.
As part of the transition to your upgraded software experience, we recommended our weekly Upgrade Support Webinars to get you started in your updated software experience.
We’re finalizing all of our other workshops for PI2, but they’re not available just yet. We’ll have more to share about workshops in late spring.
In the legacy experience, custom invitation links were located in the Assessment Center. For PI2, we’re embedding that functionality right into the Hire experience.
Any legacy candidate links will be transferred to PI2 and accessible via a link titled “Imported invitation links” within the Candidates tab. Candidates will be able to use a transferred link to take the BA; however, the link itself will no longer be modifiable.
You can create net-new invitation links in PI2 at any time. These new links are modifiable.
Please note: Any invitation links not attached to a job (including employee and “other” links) will no longer be accessible in PI2.
