Fit Rating Overview

What is a Fit Rating?

We know how frustrating and time-consuming evaluating candidates for open positions can be. That’s why the Predictive Index software has Fit Rating, so that you can hire smarter than ever before!

Fit Rating is a helpful organizing tool that ranks options, allowing you to focus on a smaller set of candidates when using the Predictive Index for hiring and selection.

Please note Fit Rating does not make hiring decisions for you. Instead, it helps to focus your candidate search. You should still evaluate other relevant information about candidates such as experience and education.

Elements of Fit Rating

Fit Rating is determined by comparing a Job Target to a candidate’s behavioral and cognitive assessment results. Based on the results, the software will generate a score for behavioral fit ratings on a scale of 1 – 5, 5 being the strongest fit. Cognitive fit ratings are provided on a scale that includes three levels of fit.

  • Behavioral – The Candidates’ Behavioral Fit Rating based on their Behavioral Assessment results and the Behavioral Job Target.
  • Cognitive – The Candidates’ Cognitive Fit Rating based on their Cognitive Assessment results and the Cognitive Job Target.

The Behavioral Fit Rating is based on how closely the candidate matches the behavioral job target. For example, a candidate who falls within each targeted range for each factor will receive a 5 star fit rating. Candidates who do not fall within the targeted ranges for each factor will receive various ratings based on how far their factor scores fall outside of the target.

The Cognitive Fit Rating is based on how closely the candidate matches the cognitive job target. Candidates who scores at or above the cognitive target will receive the strongest fit rating of “Strong Fit.” Candidates who fall below the job target will receive ratings of either “Moderate” or “Cautionary” fit based on how far they fall from the target.
