Quotes
Quotes in Salesforce represent the proposed prices for our software products. It includes the product, quantity (i.e. headcount), unit price, discount price, start date, and length of subscription. The quote is created from an opportunity. Each opportunity can have multiple quotes, however, one must be marked as the primary quote. The primary quote indicates which quote the client plans to purchase. Let’s build a quote!
Activity
Using the opportunity you created in the previous lesson we are going to build a quote. Navigate to the account you created and under opportunities, select the ‘New Prospect’ opportunity you created.
1. In the quotes box, select the down arrow and pick ‘New’
2. Select, ‘unapproved’, then ‘next’
3. Check the box next to ‘Primary’
4. Select the Opportunity associated with this quote
5. Assign the Certified Partner — ‘Silly Productions Training Center, UOS
6. ‘Expires on’ date should be 30 days in the future
7. ‘Subscription Term’, select 12
8. ‘Start Date’ — insert tomorrow’s date
9. ‘Currency’ — USD – U.S. Dollar
10. ‘Price Book’ — Current Brice Book
11. Save
Activity
Now that the quote is created, you will notice that it is given a quote number. This unique number, starting with a Q, is used to help identify and pair the opportunity. The next thing we need to do is add products and pricing.
1. On the quote page, select the down arrow in the upper right hand corner and choose ‘edit lines’
2. ‘Start Date’ and ‘Subscription Term’ should already be populated. However, it is good to check to ensure it is accurate
3. Select ‘Add Product’
4. Under ‘Subscriptions’, place a check mark next to the “Hire” and “Inspire” product
5. Choose ‘Select’
6. Edit ‘Headcount’ to 100
7. Choose the arrow at the end of the line to expand the options
8. We are providing a 20% partner discount
9. Save
**Note: If the quote is for a multiyear agreement, you must create the quote for the entire agreement. For example, if a client wants Hire and Inspire for a 200 headcount for 24 months at $16,000. Your quote should reflect the following:
Subscription Term = 24
Product: Hire and Inspire
Headcount: 100
Net Total: $16,000
Once the order form is generated it will break down the cost on an annual basis.
Resources
You have now successfully created a quote for a partner. The partner will review the quote and make any changes that are necessary to solidify the sale with the client. Once both parties are happy with the quote, the partner will generate an Order Form and Client Agreement for the client to sign. In the next lesson, you will get an over view of what an order form looks like and the key areas to be familiar with.
