Finance Basics

Intro to Finance

Our finance department is concerned with acquisitions, financing, and the management of assets with the overall company goal in mind.  We work together to assist our partners and clients in ensuring their invoices are accurate and able to be paid so that they can continue to utilize their software without any interruptions in service.

The finance team has partnered with the User Operations Team to create the Finance Case Playbook.  While we will go through the different sections in this module, it is handy to bookmark this link to reference in the future.

If questions arise that can not be answered by other members of the UOS team, the #ask-finance slack channel is available.  Keep in mind that this channel should be used for general fact-finding finance questions such as,

“Do we charge sales tax in PA?” or “Will a $0 opportunity generate an invoice?”

We do not want to use this channel to give Finance action items — use the escalation option in Salesforce case management for that.

Lastly, we do not want to disclose identifying information about clients/partners/commissions etc. in this channel.  If the question is that specific, utilize the escalation feature in Salesforce case management.  The reason for this is because our finance team is legally obligated to keep records of all finance-related affairs with partners/clients.

All billing that PI does is through the product NetSuite, which is integrated into Salesforce.  In Salesforce, both the UOS and the partner can see a client’s invoice and any payments or credits that are applied to their account.
