Legal AI FAQ

What terms apply to your use of AI features?

Our Client Software Agreement, located here, applies to all services provided by PI.  In addition, the AI Terms Addendum, located here, apply to your use of PI products or services that incorporate AI.

Does PI’s existing Services Privacy Policy apply to the data I share with a product that uses AI?

Absolutely.  The PI Services Privacy Policy, located here, applies to all data you share with PI in connection with your use of our products and services.

Who owns the prompts that you enter into Obi?

Since the prompts constitute Client Data under the Client Software Agreement, they are owned by the Client.  Under the Client Software Agreement, the Client grants PI the right to access and use such data as necessary to provide the Software and for any other permitted purpose under the agreement.  In addition, under the AI Terms Addendum the client grants PI broad rights to use the prompts as required for us to provide the AI functionality and in connection with the operation of our business.

Who owns the outputs that come out of Obi?

Since the outputs may contain a mixture of Client Data and PI-owned intellectual property or content, no single party owns the entire AI Output.  The Client retains ownership over the Client Data contained in the AI Output while PI retains ownership over its content contained in the AI Output.

Do PI’s Security certifications apply to its AI features?

Yes, please review the information available in PI’s Trust Center, located here.

Does PI use Client Data to train the AI model?

Yes, but only once it has been anonymized.  PI removes any information that could identify individuals or the Client from any Client Data prior to using any Prompts or Outputs to train the model.  For example, if a prompt asks “Please tell me how to best approach John Smith with a last-minute request,” we would remove the mention of “John Smith” before using this prompt in any training.  Further, PI only utilizes a private AI model.

Is Obi considered an automated employment decision tool?

Since all states that have passed applicable law are using slightly different definitions, it depends.  We are always reviewing any new regulations that may affect our products and services but at this time, we do not believe our products or services constitute an “automated employment decision tool” under the current definitions.  PI has consistently stated that its tools should be used as one of many factors in an employer’s decision-making process and strongly discourages the use of its tools in any other manner.  Obi specifically, has been trained not to make any decisions even when prompted to.  This is a guardrail that we are constantly monitoring to ensure Obi performs as intended.  That being said, we always recommend that clients engage their own legal counsel to review their employment policies and practices to ensure they are complying with applicable law.

Can we opt out of using Obi?

Yes!  Using Obi is completely optional.  Org Admins can disable Obi for the entire company via AI settings in Admin.
